Math Content Specialist

This is a full-time, remote position anywhere in the contiguous United States, with national travel expected up to 60%
What You’ll Do
Math Content Leads support instructional improvement on the ground with our school system partners. You’ll work closely with internal leaders, executing professional development, diagnosing and progress monitoring instruction and school conditions, building and coaching capacity in instructional leaders, and providing content and curricular expertise to our partners throughout the country in grades K-12. You are passionate about improving instructional effectiveness and believe in the potential of students, teachers, and systems. You will be a member of the Partnership Delivery Team.
Responsibilities:
System Support
- Partners with internal leaders to observe, analyze, and monitor instruction, systemic conditions, and instructional leadership practices using diagnostic tools. Synthesizes trends to inform system- and school-level strategy
- Facilitates reflective, data-informed conversations with system and school leaders that surface strengths, identify gaps, and drive improvement in conditions, instruction, and professional learning
- Reviews and reports on the quality of assessments, curricula, pacing guides, and related materials to strengthen instructional coherence and alignment
- Anticipates challenges and adapts strategies to evolving system needs, modeling flexibility and a growth mindset
- Communicates clearly and proactively with partners, providing timely and accurate responses that enable informed decision-making
- Builds strong, trust-based relationships with system and school leaders, demonstrating organizational values through collaboration, reliability, and integrity
- Contributes to the design of curriculum implementation playbooks and tools that promote consistency and shared expectations across schools
Content Development & Professional Learning
- Designs and delivers curriculum-specific and content-specific professional learning for teachers, school leaders, and content-specific leaders, modeling effective practices and facilitating engaging adult learning experiences
- Develops aligned training materials, model lessons, and practice resources grounded in the Core Service framework and the partner’s selected curriculum
- Leads math-focused portions of professional learning events, including topical sessions, quarterly network meetings, and partner convenings
- Evaluates the effectiveness of professional learning through observation, feedback, and outcomes data to ensure continuous improvement
- Demonstrates adaptability by iterating on training content based on participant feedback and evolving partner needs
- Communicates with clarity and purpose across diverse audiences, ensuring content and delivery are accessible, relevant, and actionable.
- Models organizational values by fostering collaboration, trust, and shared accountability for results
Candidate Qualifications and Traits:
- 5+ years of professional experience, including experience as a math teacher and 2+ years as an administrator or instructional coach
- Content-Specific Learning Design and Delivery: Deep content knowledge demonstrated through the ability to independently design and deliver high-engagement, curriculum- and content-specific professional learning with accuracy and clarity
- Instructional Diagnosis and Strategic Synthesis: Expertise in diagnosing the quality of instruction and instructional leadership practices using proprietary tools, with the ability to synthesize trends into recommended, actionable strategies for leaders
- Goal-Oriented Coaching: Mastery of coaching skills necessary to build the capacity of instructional leaders. Coaching focuses on improving content-specific instructional leadership practice, resulting in quality support for teachers and improved daily instruction for students
- Cross-Functional Communication and Alignment: Proven ability to coordinate effectively across team members, demonstrating clarity in communication and seamless task handoffs to ensure project alignment
